"you were the wind beneath my wings"

I haven’t always had all those initials around my name. I started out just a pretty baby in Florida. The picture on the left is the one that my Momma’s Mistress (Debbie Bates) sent my new Mistress and Master (I call them Sallie and Raymond). I am 9 weeks old in this shot. The one on the right is after I arrived in my new home in South Carolina. I was 11 weeks old here.

I settled in pretty well in my new home, got to meet new people and go new places. I met my new buddy, Dutch. I missed my brothers and sisters I left behind in Florida, but Dutch was really nice to me and I felt better.

This is the first time I tried swimming! But I got the hang of it eventually!

When I was about 5 months old, Sallie took me to Ashville, NC for a fun day! She took a handling class, Dutch got his Canine Good Citizen title and I got my first ribbon! Actually, I got 3 ribbons that day, 1st place, Best of Breed and a Puppy Group 2. Sallie had to ask if the Best of Breed ribbon meant she had to come back for Group! Ahhhh!  She will eventually get the hang of all of it!

This is us in October 1996, after my first show weekend. I got a blue ribbon the first time in the official ring!

The next day I got another one and a purple and white one, too! Reserve Winners Dog at 6 months and 3 days!

At least she got my head in a more normal position!

I received my Canine Good Citizen (CGC) title when I was 7 months old!

The Labrador Retriever Club of the Piedmont had a Fun Day in April of 1997, Dutch got his Working Certificate, but the bird boy behind the tree scared me! Dutch and I both participated in the pre-novice obedience, he got first and I got 4th.

Don Neblett, from Sugar Hollow was the judge for the conformation part of the day. I was only 1 year and 1 day old and everyone said I was an adult and had to go in with the big boys. Obviously Mr. Neblett was a very smart man and named me Best Adult!

The next year at the Piedmont’s Fun Day, Jeanine Biddle, Kai Den, gave me Best Adult again! There are very smart people in NC!

But my mistress forgot the camera!

Here’s a picture of me about 18 months old, just hanging around after a training day.

I received my first point in Augusta Ga in November, 1997 and my last point in High Point, NC, in May 1999!
